Lea Zmurko: Skies clear and conditions start to cool
It will be a dry afternoon with a breezy westerly wind across the Northland. This is a pleasant way to end the work week, especially after the severe weather events of last night.
Temperatures will reach those mid-seventies across the region, staying cooler in the Iron Range in the low 70s and near the low 80s further south in Northern Wisconsin but there will be a shift in temperatures by the end of the weekend as a cold front progresses east. Next week will start off seasonable in the mid-60s.
Today will dry, but we are expecting a series of isolated showers to pass across northern MN and northwestern WI by Saturday evening. A few strong thunderstorms will be possible as another round of rain moves eastward. High pressure will follow this system, and dry conditions will continue for the next few days. With clear evening skies, overnight lows will drop, and frost will be possible further north on Saturday night.
