Lea Zmurko: This storm is no joke!
The Northland will be overcast today but awaiting the arrival of the incoming snow this afternoon.
Heavy snow is expected tonight and to continue into tomorrow morning the snowfall rates with this system are as high as one inch per hour. Snowfall rates will decrease by Wednesday for all except the North Shore where the combination if terrain and east winds off the Lake will continue to encourage ample snowfall accumulation. The gusty conditions will blow snow continuously leading to many areas with reduced visibility and snow drift formation.

The rain-snow line will be a conducive to some mixed precipitation Wednesday afternoon with more ice pellets and freezing rain falling. Even some rumbles of thunder will be possible east of I-35 in northwest Wisconsin. A glaze of ice across the region is likely possible as the temperatures decrease overnight.
Any chances of precipitation to follow will remain light and will not be as impactful as the series of strong storms we have recently experienced.
