A local cafe in West Duluth brings their own twist to New Year’s Eve festivities for the 11th year in a row.

Wussow’s Concert Cafe, which has been around since 1999, hosts their annual New Year’s Eve Extravaganza from 8:00AM to 12:30AM. It gives local musicians a chance to entertain all day long, as they schedule 24 sets throughout the day, each lasting 30 minutes with a 10 minute break in between.

Owner Jason Wussow emphasized that the cozy hangout offers a welcome alternative on a holiday such as New Year’s Eve.

“A lot of people aren’t into drinking anymore, so you can grab a coffee, you can grab an Italian soda, grab a hot chocolate, but if you want, grab a beer or wine” said Wussow.

You know you’re in the right place for a good time as soon as you step inside.The cafe takes on a personality of its own, becoming a revolving door of families, friends, and talented artists. Being greeted by great smells, warm smiles, and groovy tunes certainly ushers in a positive start to 2025.

“Every half hour someone new is getting on stage and people are coming and leaving, coming to see their friends and stay for a little bit, and then it turns and changes. Yeah, it’s fun,” said Wussow.

On a night where other bars, clubs, and breweries might get hectic, its good to know that there’s an option for those looking for a more relaxed setting.

Wussow’s doors remain open past midnight for their New Year’s Eve celebration.
