Slick travel remains this morning. Allow time to go slow and keep plenty of distance between vehicles. Subfreezing temps has turned yesterday’s snow and moisture to ice. Additional snow today will be mostly limited to the shorelines of Lake Superior.
Localized accumulation of up to an additional 7″ is still possible for the North Shore portion of Lake County where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect until midnight. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect over the same timeframe for the North Shore of Cook County where up to 5″ is possible. Winds shift out of the west northwest through the day, sending the potential for localized accumulation to the tip of the Bayfield Peninsula.
The South Shore will then keep the focus for lake effect potential Thursday into Friday. Light snow showers will remain possible for the rest of the Northland. A cold front sweeping the region brings another round of snow Friday evening and overnight, reinvigorating lake effect for the South Shore on Saturday. Friday through Sunday will be bitter cold for this time of year.
