Crash involving a semi and squad truck in Floodwood

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash involving a semi truck and a Dodge Ram squad vehicle.

The call came in around 11 Thursday morning.

According to the report, the semi was following a plow while heading south on Highway 73. There was also a snow plume due to windy weather.

The Dodge Ram was northbound.

Both the semi and the Dodge made contact on the driver’s side of the vehicles.

The patrol said the driver of the Dodge is Joshua Matteson, who is listed as Floodwood’s police chief.

He went to the Essentia Health St. Mary’s with injuries that are not life threatening, according to the report.

The driver of the semi was not hurt.
