Sabrina Ullman: Temperatures plummet Thursday but improve this weekend

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with overnight lows ranging from the single digits above zero in northern Wisconsin to the negative teens in Koochiching County. Light snow is possible early Thursday morning. A southwest wind will become northwest after midnight and pick up speed.
Bitter cold temperatures return Thursday. Highs for the day will be early as temperatures plummet during the day. With subzero temperatures and a strong northwest wind, wind chill values will be between -20 and -25. A Wind Chill Advisory has been issued for portions of the Northland, in effect from 6 am to 6 pm.
Starting at 6 pm Thursday, areas under the Wind Chill Advisory during the day will then be under a Wind Chill Warning until noon Friday. Wind chill values as low as -50 are possible for Koochiching, Itasca, northern Aitkin, Carlton, St. Louis, Lake, and Cook Counties. The rest of the Northland will be under a Wind Chill Advisory during that time.
After dangerous wind chills Thursday night into Friday morning, Friday will be sunny and still cold. Temperatures improve drastically this weekend, warming to the mid-twenties. Warmer temperatures will stick around into next week.
