Wednesday marked week eight, and the 2023 season finale, of WDIO’s Prep Sports Extra. Minnesota schools kicked off their regular season finales on Wednesday due to MEA weekend. Wisconsin teams kickoff the first round of playoffs on Friday.

Duluth Denfeld held off Hermantown 31-29 to finish 7-1 and earn a first round bye in the Section 7AAAA tournament. Esko completed their third straight 8-0 undefeated regular season, while Cloquet, Proctor and Grand Rapids dropped their regular season finales.
