Another cool day lies ahead. We head out the door to temps mostly in the 20s, then highs stay in the 40s this afternoon. Skies will be sunny for the most part, but cumulus clouds once again pop up in the morning and fade away in the evening. A nearby area of high pressure has brought drier air, making it harder for isolated showers to make it to the ground. A few flurries and sprinkles are still possible. Tonight is mostly clear with temps falling back into the 20s.
Wednesday will nudge us into milder temps as a south wind develops between exiting high pressure and a warm front crossing the Dakotas. Highs will reach upper 40s to mid-50s. The south wind directs cool lake air along the North Shore. Clouds increase through the day ahead of scattered showers that sweep the region Wednesday evening and overnight. Expect a general tenth of an inch to a quarter inch of rain across the Northland. We still look to the tip of the Arrowhead for snow to mix in early Thursday morning, but this would only bring a dusting if that.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy and seasonable with a breezy west wind. Rain chances return Thursday night, Friday and Saturday with highs falling back into 40s. Snow will enter the mix as precipitation hangs around Saturday night, Sunday, and into Monday. This period will also feature a blustery north wind.
