Brandon Weatherz: Cool and active weekend weather

A cold front that swept the region overnight has paved the way for a breezy Friday with much cooler conditions. After a stretch of unseasonable 60s, highs are knocked back near average today in low to mid-40s.
Saturday features a weather system that will move across Wisconsin from the south to bring gusty winds and precipitation. There’s still a lot of uncertainty in precipitation type. The current thinking is that rain will envelop northwest Wisconsin from the south by early Saturday morning. Precipitation reaches west toward the I-35 corridor and across the Arrowhead in the morning and afternoon. Snow may change over in this time period. We dry out from the southwest Saturday evening.
Snow accumulation potential is still fuzzy, but the best chance for accumulation of 1-3” is in Lake County and Cook County. An additional system will roll through quickly Saturday night into early Sunday morning. This round of light rain and snow will be more minimal with little to no accumulation expected. Sunday then features a gusty west wind behind that system and highs in the 40s. An active weather pattern returns for the middle and end of next week. As of now, precipitation would be primarily rain beginning Tuesday and into Thursday.
