Brandon Weatherz: Warmer for the weekend
We’re finally enjoying some well-deserved mild temperatures! We head out the door to 40s and even 50s this morning, then temps top off in mid-50s to low 60s. A deck of early morning clouds tries to produce a few sprinkles in northern Minnesota, then sunshine soon becomes a main feature for the rest of the day.
Saturday features a mix of clouds and sun and a breezy east wind that keeps the North Shore in the 50s. Meanwhile, low 60s are possible from the Iron Range to the Canadian border, and areas generally south of U.S. Highway 2 will rise to mid and upper 60s. The warmth peaks on Sunday with highs in mid-60s to low 70s. A breezy southeast wind will keep cooler conditions focused along the North Shore.
A potent area of low pressure moves across the region Sunday night into Monday with potentially strong thunderstorms and gusty winds. The wettest conditions should move north of the international border Monday morning with a low chance for showers lingering the rest of the day. Temperatures take a hit behind this system with highs in the 40s consistently next week.
