A beautiful fall weekend lies ahead! Conditions are great for taking in the fall colors. We’ll enjoy a quiet stretch of weather accompanied by closer to average temperatures after a cool Friday. We begin the day with temps near and below freezing, leading to a chilly bus stop and frost to scrape off the windshield. Highs stay mostly in the mid-40s. Early morning cloud cover is producing areas of few flurries, both in northern Minnesota and along Lake Superior’s South Shore. Flurries transition to sprinkles and taper off west to east through the morning into the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies take over from the west.
It’ll be another cold and frosty night with temperatures falling to mid-20s to mid-30s. A breezy west wind kicks in on Saturday to boost temperatures back into the mid-50s to near 60. The weekend will also feature plenty of sunshine. Sunday is another seasonable day with highs in mid to upper 50s. A warming trend takes us through Tuesday when highs will be well into the 60s. A cold front to follow will knock highs back into the 40s by Thursday. The passing front may generate a few showers, but the overall forecast continues to be very dry.
