Dangerous swimming conditions for Park Point beaches
The Duluth Fire Department has issued a warning of dangerous swimming conditions on Thursday due to the high risk of rip currents. The Warning will be in effect until 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Visitors and residents need to be aware that wind and wave conditions Thursday can support rip currents in Lake Superior.
Rip currents are life-threatening to anyone entering the water, no matter your swimming experience.
Red flags have been posted along the beach to indicate dangerous swimming conditions. The Red Flags are located at the South Pier (South of Lift Bridge), 12th Street Beach, Lafayette Park, and two locations at Park Point Beach.
The public is advised to stay out of the water until the warning has been lifted.
