Brandon Weatherz: Staying mild and getting grayer
The mild trend continues. Over the next couple of days, we’ll see less and less of the sun that peeked through yesterday. This is in part due to warm air above us trapping clouds and moisture near the surface which will bring periods of foggy, misty, and drizzly conditions, particularly on Friday into Saturday.
Today we look from the Twin Ports extending along the North Shore for a low chance of flurries, freezing drizzle, and drizzle as a breezy east wind carries air up the higher terrain and enhances saturation in these areas. This will remain possible here overnight into early Thursday morning as the east wind persists. Little to no accumulation is expected from this.
Our Wednesday is otherwise mostly cloudy. Temps begin in upper teens to upper 20s looking from north to south, and we’ll see a spread of upper 20s to upper 30s this afternoon with a high around 33 in the Twin Ports. Tonight is mostly cloudy with lows staying near and above average high temperatures in the 20s. Thursday sees us back above freezing across the map with highs in mid-30s to low 40s under mostly cloudy skies.
Areas of light snow, drizzle, and freezing drizzle are possible Thursday night into Friday morning with little to no accumulation. More than anything, I anticipate foggy/misty conditions. Visibility may be a contender for travel Friday morning through Saturday morning. The wettest period will be Sunday and Monday as a large system passes to our south. There’s still some disagreement in storm track and placement of cooler air, but warmer air is still expected to keep rain dominant for most, and prevent snow from sticking should it change over at times.
