Brandon Weatherz: Warmer stretch ahead
Slick roads remain in spots this morning from last night’s snow. Lingering snow today is limited to the South Shore where additional accumulation would be under a half inch. Cloudy skies break up from the west through the day. Temps start rather mild once more around 30, then highs stay in low to mid-30s. Tonight will see temps falling into mid-teens to low 20s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
Wednesday then features a warm front that brings a breezy southwest wind and pushes highs into mid-30s to low 40s. This system should stay rather dry with only a few flurries possible in the Arrowhead ahead of the front Wednesday morning. Thursday sees most areas into the 40s.
Friday will be one more warm day before cooler conditions arrive. Temps should start near and above freezing in the morning, then highs range from upper 30s to mid-40s. That system may bring light rain mixing with snow along the international border and a bit south into northern Minnesota. After that, a quieter stretch is expected for the weekend accompanied by a cooling trend. Highs are back below freezing by Sunday.
