Forecasting for the Fourth of July
The Storm Track Weather Department has been keeping a close eye on the forecast for July 4. Leading up to the holiday, the Northland will have a few nice days to enjoy. Tuesday, July 4
Iron Range:
Independence Day brings a patchwork of clouds and a chance for rain that will knock temps down a peg. Afternoon highs will be in the mid-seventies. Showers are likely starting in the late morning and early afternoon. There is a risk of isolated severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds possible. A lower chance for showers lingers through the evening into the overnight hours.
Twin Ports:
The 4th will have more clouds than sun and a chance for rain. We’ll still warm to 78 degrees. A light east wind will hold lakeside areas in the 60s. Rain chances spike in the early afternoon and continue through the evening. There is a risk of scattered severe thunderstorms. Large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain are all possible. Thunderstorm chances will be diminishing but lingering around the time fireworks go off.
Northwest Wisconsin:
The 4th will still be very warm with highs in the low to mid-eighties. Showers are likely in the afternoon and through the evening. There is a risk of scattered severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rain are all possible. Rain chances linger but diminish overnight. A few showers may redevelop Wednesday morning.
