Hail reports for Saturday, August 3
On Saturday morning, strong thunderstorms formed in far northern Minnesota ahead of severe thunderstorms in the evening. The strongest storms occurred between six and eight pm in Cass and Crow Wing Counties.

- 5:12 PM – 1 SSW Grand Rapids – 0.75 inches – Itasca County
- 6:35 PM – 4 NE Jenkins – 0.75 inches – Crow Wing County
- 7:18 PM – 3 SSE Breezy Point – 0.75 inches – Crow Wing County
- 6:30 PM – 7 WSW Pine River – 0.75 inches – Cass County
- 12:30 PM – 3 WNW Squaw Lake – 0.70 inches – Itasca County

For reference, hail that is two inches in diameter is about the size of a lime. Golf ball-sized hail is 1.75″, quarter-sized hail is 1″, and penny-sized hail is 0.75″.
