Expect slick travel today due to a wintry mix. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 12 pm in Ashland, Iron, and Price Co. where ice accumulation around 0.1” are expected through the morning. Lake and Cook Co. are under a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 6 pm and lasting until 6 pm tomorrow where 2-4” of snow are expected.
Wintry mix reaches across the Northland from the south through the morning with an initial glaze of ice expected, especially where the Advisory is in effect. Rain will become dominant in the afternoon for east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Snow takes over from the west this evening and overnight, but a wintry mix persists in parts of Northwest Wisconsin into early Tuesday morning. Scattered snow lingers Tuesday and gradually tapers off from the west. Lake effect may linger along the South Shore Tuesday night.
The next system to potentially impact the Northland would arrive Wednesday night and continue Thursday. At this time, there is uncertainty in the track of this system and how far north the potential for accumulation would extend. A quiet weather pattern is expected Friday into the weekend.
