Our Monday is hot and muggy with potentially strong thunderstorms. Highs range from 80 near International Falls to 90 near Hayward. A light lake breeze will be enough to keep lakeside areas a touch more comfortable. Skies are a mix of clouds and sun.
An early morning round of showers and thunderstorms in north central Minnesota has fallen apart moving east. We look near the intersection of Itasca, Koochiching, and St. Louis counties for thunderstorm chances around noon. Rain chances move southeast of there across northeast Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin through the afternoon and evening. An isolated thunderstorm may be capable of 1” hail and damaging winds. Heavy rain and locally high rain totals are also possible.
Tonight will be generally quieter with a slight chance for showers and storms lingering. Lows stay mild in mid-50s to mid-60s with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Tuesday will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Northland throughout the day. Potential for severe hail and winds will be more scattered, mostly along and south of the Iron Range. Rain and storms are possible for fireworks.
Storms and showers move east Tuesday night and linger in northwest Wisconsin on Wednesday. By Wednesday, cooler air arrives with highs ranging from mid-60s to mid-70s. We trend warmer and stay generally dry the rest of the week. As of now, shower and thunderstorm chances are on track to return for next weekend.
