Our Wednesday is wet and gloomy. Areas of fog, locally dense, have set up surrounding Lake Superior this morning. Expect this to continue to impact visibility for some through today, tonight, and into tomorrow morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms arrive from the west this morning, and we’ll continue to have periods of rain through the day. It’s also cooler with highs staying in mid-60s to mid-70s. Lakeside areas stay in the 50s.
Widespread accumulation should range between .25” and .75”, but heavy rain and locally high amounts are possible. We look to Sawyer County and south of there for the best chance for severe storms this afternoon and evening. A low chance for 1” hail and damaging winds will reach west of there across the I-35 corridor, staying just south of Duluth.
Rain mostly exits to the east overnight into early Thursday morning. Shower and thunderstorm chances return from the north Thursday afternoon and evening. A low chance may return to the Arrowhead Friday and Saturday, but the Northland will see generally drier weather through the weekend with scattered thunderstorms returning on the 4th. Seasonably warm weather returns Friday and takes us through the start of July.
