Justin Liles: Another milder day lies ahead.

Once again mild conditions are likely to continue. Southwest winds of 15 to 20 mph are forecast across northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin on Friday south of low pressure across southwest Ontario. High temperatures on Friday will be the 40s areawide. A strongcold front will move across the area Friday night into Saturday morning.

This will lead to strong northwest winds Saturday with gusts of 25 to 35 mph across the region, with gusts more than 40 mph likely along the North Shore. Light snow is expected most of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin on Saturday, with accumulations of less than 1 inch for most areas.

Gusty northwest winds will lead to lake effect accumulations in the U.P. of Michigan beginning Friday evening and lasting through Sunday morning. As much as 3-5” is possible during this time frame. Colder and drier air brings through the middle of next week. Toward the end of the week temperatures look to climb again.

FRIDAY
Early AM rain possible with patchy fog, Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 20 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
SATURDAY
A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. Windy, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 28. Blustery, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
