Justin Liles: Changes coming over the weekend

The lake breeze took over Thursday and daytime highs for many communities along the shoreline were nearly 30° cooler than Wednesday. East central Minnesota and southern parts of Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer and Price counties in Wisconsin still saw 80°. Winds will continue to be off the lake Friday and keep towns along the shoreline much cooler. Low 50s on the hill and 40s right by the lake for places like Canal Park are likely. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible beginning Friday. Most of the rain looks to stay north.

By Saturday, more showers and storms are likely around the region. These rains won’t help our flooding issues we have been seeing around the region. A large low takes aim on the region Sunday and looks to deepen, this means cold air pulling in and the changeover to snow is likely along with gusty winds. Snowfall totals are all over the place as of now and it is too early to make a call on accumulating snow. Just know that the possibility is there at the moment and putting your shovels away might be a bad idea. Temperatures look to become more seasonal next week with high in the upper 40s and low 50s.
