Justin Liles: Cooler conditions to stick around

An area of low pressure tracking through Canada will bring continued scattered showers around the region tonight. Colder air is likely going to be on the move across the international border as we head through the weekend. Much of the upper Midwest will see freeze or frost warnings. We will likely start to see one of these headlines heading tomorrow. The low moving from through Canada will eventually merge with tropical storm Phillipe off the east coast.
This will create a massive low that will spin and just sit over James Bay. This low will not be in any hurry to move and create an atmospheric traffic jam. What this means for the Northland is our cooler than average conditions look to last a bit longer into next week. We will likely be dry for most of the region. However, this merger will help create showers along the south shore on Sunday. If you are heading on over to the Bayfield Apple Festival, you’ll likely see some wet weather. Bring a hat, gloves, and umbrella.
