Justin Liles: Periods of rain, snow and fog
Another round of weather is set to roll through the parts of the Northland this evening and last through the first half of Wednesday. A rain/snow mix will spread into the region from the southwest tonight. Mostly rain is expected south of HWY 2 and snow/sleet or evening freezing rain is possible over north-central Wisconsin later tonight.
The heaviest snowfall looks to be in the higher terrain of the North Shore through Wednesday morning. As much as 3-5” of snow is possible in areas from Finland to Eagle Mountain and over to Grand Portage. This is why these areas are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 9am Wednesday. Road conditions will likely be slick in these areas Wednesday morning.
For the rest of the week, a light mix is possible through the end of the week. This weekend looks drier with a trend heading toward warmer weather.
