If you live near the shoreline of Lake Superior and have thought to yourself the lake winds have kept things rather cool this month, you’re right. Sixteen out of the twenty-two days this month have experience the dreaded lake breeze. It has slowed down the vegetation from blossoming near the shoreline. Winds will switch to the south Tuesday ahead of an approaching cold front. Some thunderstorms may pop up Tuesday afternoon but nothing severe.
If you are going to be down by Lake Superior enjoying the day, please be advised that after 5pm when the front passes the winds will switch from the south to the east. Temperatures will likely drop 20-30° in a matter of hours. Winds will also increase and become rather gusty Tuesday evening and last through Wednesday. The 24-hour temperatures difference between Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s high will be nearly 30° different. Winds will likely switch toward the end of the week into the holiday weekend. Temperatures will likely warm up too. A chance of showers returns late Sunday into Memorial Day.
