Justin Liles: Three rounds of thunderstorms

It looks like we are going to see three windows for rain and thunderstorms opportunities. The first arrives this afternoon as energy crosses the International Border and arrives to a storm producing environment. The temperatures are climbing along with higher dewpoints. A marginal risk of stronger storms has is likely and is farther east than yesterday impacting more the region. The biggest threats will likely be large hail and damaging winds.
Overnight may bring another round of showers and storms as a cold front advances out of the Northern Plains. Another hazard to be aware of for the overnight hours will be the potential for some flash flooding. Training storms over the same locations could lead rapid accumulations.
The third round of storms and severe weather comes during the day Wednesday. The main question is where the incoming frontal boundary decides to set up for peak heating. Once again, the biggest threats will be large hail and damaging winds. Additional flash flooding might be possible in areas that received rain prior to round three.
By Thursday, a cool front comes sliding through allowing things to cool down by the weekend. The weekend may see thunderstorms through the weekend too. Beginning, Saturday afternoon.
