Our Monday features a snowy morning commute. Fresh accumulation has fallen overnight, and additional snow will bring slick travel today. A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for South St. Louis, Carlton, Douglas, and Bayfield Co. until 6 pm. Locally heavy snow will bring an additional 2-5″ here, especially south of Duluth. A Winter Weather Advisory continues until 6 pm for the North Shore of Lake Co., Ashland, and Iron Co. The Advisory expires at 3 pm for Pine, Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer, and Price Co. Additional amounts here will be up to 2 inches.
Snowy conditions persist through the morning, then widespread snow moves east across northwest Wisconsin through the afternoon. We look from the Iron Range to the I-35 corridor in the afternoon to early evening for localized snow showers that may involve brief snow squalls of heavy snowfall rates.
Tuesday will be quiet and mostly cloudy. Wednesday brings a slight chance for snow, mostly west of the Duluth in Northern Minnesota. The period of interest for widespread accumulation potential is Thursday into Friday. Travel may be impacted, including travel toward the Twin Cities for the MSHSL State Boys Hockey Tournament.
