Haze from Canadian wildfires will be in our skies today, tonight and tomorrow with few clouds. An Air Quality Alert is in effect across northeast Minnesota until 4 pm today as the air may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. People with heart/lung disease, older adults and children should limit outdoor activities. Dry air will once again bring near-critical fire weather this afternoon, allowing fires to spread rapidly. Fire danger is very high for the majority of the Northland and extreme for Itasca and Koochiching Co.
Temperatures start off mild as a west wind lingers this morning, but a wind shift out of the east will allow temps surrounding Lake Superior to fall into the 50s this afternoon. Highs elsewhere range from upper 60s to mid-70s as a cold front reaches across the Northland from the northeast. Tonight will be cooler with lows in mid-30s to mid-40s looking from east to west. Inland areas return to 70s on Wednesday, but an east wind will keep shoreline communities cooler.
A system moving in from Manitoba brings scattered showers Thursday and a wind shift. Highs will range from near 60 to near 70 with limited lake influence. Rain chances linger Friday, mostly in the morning. The weekend should be relatively quiet and comfortable.
