We kick off the workweek with warmth in the region that won’t be felt near Lake Superior today, but it will be tomorrow. Our Monday is mostly sunny with a southeast wind keeping the immediate shoreline in the upper 40s. The Duluth International airport should be about 20 degrees warmer, and 80 is possible from International Falls to Hayward. Tonight is clear and mild with most areas staying in the 50s. A southwest wind arrives tomorrow, allowing 80 degree warmth to reach the Twin Ports.
We look toward the Canadian border for rain chances Tuesday morning. Showers and thunderstorms then move southward across northeast Minnesota through the afternoon and evening with a cold front. Showers move to the south and southwest Tuesday night. The rest of the week currently looks to be generally dry. Wednesday will feature a strong lake wind returning, bringing much cooler conditions back to areas surrounding Lake Superior. Looking ahead to Memorial Day weekend, it will feature 70s and slight chances for showers and thunderstorms.
