Our Wednesday is windy and much cooler behind a cold front that passed yesterday. An east wind sustained 20-25 mph and gusting near 40 mph will be the strongest near Lake Superior. This holds temps along the shorelines in the 40s. It’s not pleasant beach weather by any means, but a Beach Hazard Statement has been issued for the Head of Lake Superior through the day due to a high risk for rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions. Highs for inland communities range from low 50s to mid-60s under a mix of clouds and sun. A few showers linger from Cass County southeast into Burnett County.
Skies clear tonight with temps falling into the 30s for the shorelines of Lake Superior and the Arrowhead with patchy frost possible. Temps stay in the 40s looking west in north central Minnesota and south of Lake Superior. Thursday will mark the start of a warming trend accompanied by a dry stretch that will take us through Memorial Day Weekend. Highs Thursday reach 70s away from Lake Superior with a lingering east wind keeping the need for a light jacket closer to it. Lake influence should be more limited Friday to Monday. By Memorial Day, most of the region will rise into the 80s.
