Brandon Weatherz: One more mild day
We’re done with morning temps above freezing. Our Wednesday starts off with upper teens to mid-20s. A breezy southwest wind will help push temps into mid-40s to mid-30s looking from south to north across the Northland. This is the last day in our stretch of above average temps. With a normal high of 34 and low of 19 in Duluth for today, we’ll find ourselves on the cool side of average starting Thursday.
The cold front that triggers the cooldown will be responsible for breezy northwest winds. Lows tonight range from low teens to low 20s with wind chills expected to be in single digits Thursday morning. Highs will be in low to upper 20s Thanksgiving Day with sunshine and a blustery northwest wind. Areas downwind of larger inland lakes may see light lake effect snow. This is possible for the South Shore snowbelt as well, but even here there isn’t concern for accumulation or travel impacts.
By Friday morning, temps will be in single digits and teens with wind chills dipping a few degrees below zero for some. Highs stay in mid-20s to near 30 with abundant sunshine. Clouds return over the weekend and temps will be a touch milder, staying rather seasonable. Travel will continue to be nice and clear. Sunday is the only day with a slight chance for snow showers. There’s no return to mild conditions on the horizon even into the middle of next week.
