Our Monday is cold and blustery. Temps start off in single digits and teens with wind chills for many around -5 to -10. Roads may still be a little slippery from Sunday’s snow. Flurries and light snow showers linger in northern Minnesota today with accumulation remaining very light. We look to the South Shore for lake effect snow and travel impacts. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Iron County until 6 am Tuesday and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Gogebic County for the same timeframe. Additional accumulation after 6 am Monday will be up to 6” locally.

The coldest air to contend with is what we have today and tonight, then a warming trend will take over nicely with everyone rising above freezing by Wednesday. Highs stay only in the teens today, which is 10 to 15 ° below average. Tonight is colder yet with lows in single digits across the board, and some spots may dip below zero. Tuesday is a step in the right direction with highs returning to the 20s and a breezy southwest wind. A round of light snow will move south of the Canadian border Tuesday afternoon to reach across the Arrowhead and into the South Shore Tuesday evening. Amounts stay under an inch, and the Twin Ports is only grazed by the chance for a dusting.

Wednesday marks the start of a more comfortable and quieter stretch that takes us through the end of the week and into the weekend. The next chance of snow is currently only a slight one Saturday night into Sunday.
