Our Tuesday begins with light lake effect rain and snow showers moving from the South Shore to the Twin Ports and up the North Shore through the morning as winds become easterly. This morning round may have localized impacts on the morning commute with light accumulation in areas of higher terrain. Widespread rain, snow, and wintry mix showers fill out the Northland from the west and continue overnight. Little to no snow accumulation is expected along and south of Hwy 2. Amounts rise to 1-2” for much of the Arrowhead, then locally higher amounts of 3-5” are possible along the North Shore, particularly along the higher terrain. This puts The North Shore of Lake Co. and Cook Co. in a Winter Weather Advisory from 3 pm Tuesday until 9 am Wednesday.

Temperatures begin in mid-20s to mid-30s today, then top off in mid-30s to low 40s looking from north to south across the Northland. Tonight is mild with lows in low to mid-30s. Wednesday is warmer with highs ranging from upper 30s north to upper 40s south. Precipitation tapers off from southwest to northeast through the morning with snow changing over to rain for the Arrowhead, then additional rain showers sweep the region in the late afternoon and evening. We look north of the Twin Ports for snow and wintry mix Wednesday night through Thursday where light accumulation will be possible.

A quiet stretch begins Friday and continues over the weekend and through the start of next week. This same period features a warming trend with temps consistently on the warm side of average Sunday onward.
