Brandon Weatherz: Settling into fall weather

Fall weather has arrived and it’s sticking around. We still start the day with temps milder than we’ll have moving forward, allowing us to ease into chillier conditions at the bus stop. Temps begin in low 40s to low 50s and top off only in low 50s to low 60s, leading to the need for a light jacket even in the afternoon. A west wind 15-20 mph gusting near 30 mph will also add to the chill. Scattered showers move from west to east through the morning across the Arrowhead, but the Twin Ports and South Shore are also grazed by the chance for light rain. Additional scattered showers and a stray thunderstorm fill out northern Minnesota and brush the South Shore this afternoon and evening.
Yet another round of light rain moves from northwest to southeast across the Northland tonight into Friday morning. Lows will be cooler but seasonable in low to mid-40s. Friday’s rain chances move east of the Twin Ports across northwest Wisconsin, so plan for showers at the first day of the Bayfield Apple Festival. Highs will stay only in mid-40s to near 50, and a north northwest wind will be sustained near 15 mph.
A low chance for a passing sprinkle is with us Saturday and Sunday, but we won’t see widespread wet weather for your weekend. The South Shore will have the best chance for rain due to lake effect. Morning frost is possible both Saturday and Sunday. We’ll settle into a quiet and seasonably cool stretch through the middle of next week.
