Snow making has started at Spirit Mountain
At around 2 pm on Monday, the snow guns at Spirit Mountain began making snow for the first time this season. Director of Resort Services Jon Regenold says that crews watched temperatures closely, waiting for the right conditions to make snow.
“We’re ready to go. Guns are turning on and we’re making snow,” said Regenold. “We’ve got snow machines placed all along the hill, and so right now top of the hill is the best temps, but the crews are working down the hill, and as the day progresses all the guns will be on to cover our first trails with that beautiful white.”
Temperatures are going to keep cooling off for the remainder of the week, keeping it cold enough to continue making snow.

“We’re going to have crews out 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making snow for the entire season, hopefully from this point on,” said Regenold.
The goal each year is to open in time for Thanksgiving. Spirit Mountain will announce the opening schedule on Tuesday.
