It’s another frosty start for many with temps heading out the door ranging from 20s to 40s as warmer air arrives from the west. We’ll continue to soak up the sun today and highs for inland areas will be in low to upper 60s. You’ll once again want to keep a jacket on hand closer to Lake Superior with a high near 58 at the Duluth International Airport and a temp staying in the 40s immediately by the shoreline. Tonight is milder with lows in 30s and 40s as cloud cover begins to thicken from the southwest.

We’re on track to see two low pressure systems cross the Northland Friday through Monday with widespread accumulation of 1-2” expected all said and done. Showers and some thunderstorms arrive Friday afternoon and evening, continue overnight, and gradually move north through the day Saturday. A brief lull is expected overnight into early Sunday morning, then additional rain moves in from the south Sunday and exits to the northeast through the day Monday.

Both systems will also have strong winds wrapped around them. Friday will feature an east wind gusting near 30 mph, then winds briefly shift northerly through the day Saturday. Sunday then sees an east wind around 25 mph gusting past 40 mph with waves building on Lake Superior. Sunday will also be very cool due to the strong lake wind and rain. Monday sees a wind shift through the day with waves waning.
