Happy Friday! A nice weekend lies ahead with the main contender being a gusty east wind, keeping the need for a jacket for those spending time near Lake Superior. Our Friday starts off frosty with temps mostly in the 20s. High pressure will be our main weather influencer today, providing sunshine. Warmer air approaches from the west with mid-50s in north central Minnesota. The thermometer falls into mid-40s looking east near Butternut, but the true cool spots will be shoreline communities where highs stay in upper 30s to low 40s. Areas near Lake Superior will continue to see similar conditions through the weekend.

The east wind will be around 10 mph overall today. Saturday afternoon will see it pick up to 15-20 mph, then we stay breezy Saturday night. Sunday is windy with a sustained wind around 20 mph and gusts near 35 mph off of Lake Superior. Inland areas rise to low to upper 50s on Saturday with sunshine as the area of high pressure exits to the east and a low pressure system begins to emerge out of the Rockies.

Sunday will see highs ranging from mid-40s south to mid-50s north outside of lake influence. Northern areas see sunshine while clouds and rain chances build into east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin in the afternoon ahead of the previously mentioned low. We’ll then see scattered showers, mostly in the form of rain, Sunday night into Tuesday morning. Warmth keeps ticking up next week with highs in 50s and 60s by Wednesday.
