A stretch of unseasonable warmth is on track to continue each day this week into the start of next week with the exception of Friday that feels like February. Our Tuesday starts off milder than Monday with the cool areas in upper single digits instead of being below zero. Many areas, Twin Ports included, start off in mid to upper 20s. The only contender this morning is a thick layer of frost on the windshield to attend to before hitting the road. Areas of morning clouds will give way to sun in the afternoon. Winds shift from east in the morning to southwest through the day. Grand Marais will still be a cool spot, but instead of staying in the 20s we’ll rise toward 37 here. Much of the rest of the Northland will see low to mid-40s.

Tonight is mostly cloudy with low temperatures staying in low to upper 20s, which is what daily average highs are this time of year. Wednesday will see most areas returning to 40s with 45 in Duluth and 50 possible in the warm areas of northwest Wisconsin. A weak cold front sliding in from the north keeps highs in the 30s along the Canadian border and may bring a few snow showers here Wednesday night. Thursday is yet another warm day with mid-30s to mid-40s across the Northland. It’ll be breezy out of the west northwest.

Temps take a hit behind a cold front on Friday with highs staying generally in the 20s. Thursday night into Friday then brings a few snow showers to the international border and light lake effect snow to the South Shore snowbelt. Temps quickly bounce back for a warm and sunny weekend. By Monday, 50s will be possible in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
