Justin Liles: 1st round of snow for some tonight
A clipper system will bring accumulating light snow chances to portions of the Northland, with the highest accumulations south of US Highway 2 tonight where chances for greater than 2 inches of snow are 40 to 70 percent. This snow could lead to slick roadways during the tonight and Friday morning commutes. A winter weather advisory as been issued until 10am Friday has bee issued for these areas.
We will get a break between snow events Friday night and Saturday. On Sunday, a large low emerges out of the Colorado Rockies and takes aim in the upper Midwest. A messy spring storm will impact the Midwest Sunday through Tuesday. Accumulating snow, wintry mix, rain, and strong winds will affect the area. The heaviest precipitation is expected Sunday through Monday, and some lake enhanced precipitation is possible. Adverse travel conditions and winter storm impacts are likely. Exact snowfall amounts and the locations of the heaviest amounts are not yet known and are expected to change, but many parts of Northland have a 70% chance of 12″ or more of snow. Monitor the forecast for updates and stay aware for possible travel impacts.
