Justin Liles: Clearing skies and cooler temperatures

The low responsible for all the severe storms we saw to our south overnight is still creating lingering showers late this afternoon. Especially for far northern Minnesota. This rain will likely diminish this evening. Over the last 24 hours, heavy rain along with strong winds impacted our southern viewing area. As much as 1-4” fell in Burnett and Washburn counties.

Quiet weather will return on Wednesday. However, it will much cooler than average with many seeing highs in the 60s. Winds are going to be rather breezy off the lake. There is a beach hazard for swimming conditions for Lake Superior tomorrow. Winds off the lake may bring is a little chill and you may want to bring a light jacket with you to work in the morning. Another round of thunderstorm will arrive late Thursday. Some isolated strong thunderstorms are possible, but the moisture content will be nowhere like it was yesterday. Heading into the holiday weekend, temperatures will remain on the cool side, but at least we will see plenty of sunshine.

A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. Breezy, with a southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
