Justin Liles: Dangerously cold temperatures return this weekend
Winds will continue to pick up this evening as the arctic air returns this weekend. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph over night. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills are expected Saturday and lasting into Wednesday.
Daytime highs over the next several days will be well below zero. When you factor in the winds, the wind chill values will drop as low as -30° to -45° and could result in frostbite in as little as 10 minutes. Frost bite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes too so make sure to run your water periodically. You may also want to start your car and let it run for a while too if you can.

An Extreme Cold Warning has been issues for all the Northland beginning at 6pm Saturday and lasting through Tuesday. Please take it easy and avoid extended periods of time outside. It’s also a good reminder to protect the pets.
