January 18th: Warmer weather coming

Warmer weather coming

Another Wind Chill Advisory is in play for Lake and Cook County until 9am Thursday. Wind chills of -20 to -30 are likely again. Moderate lake effect snow is expected in the snow belts of northern Iron County, with accumulations of 4 to 8 inches falling by early Saturday morning. Locally higher amounts may be possible, especially between Hurley and Upson. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Iron County starting this evening. Use caution if traveling!

The good news is there will be slow warming trend into early next week. By Sunday, many parts of the Northland will see temperatures climbing back into the 20s. The start of next week sees us climbing well above average again by some 10-15°. There isn’t much snow into the forecast but winds will increase by Sunday and be rather breezy.
