Justin Liles: Hot, Hot, Hot
There are not really any major changes to the forecast as hot temperatures and uncomfortable humidity will continue through this week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s and dewpoints in the 60s will be present each day. Thunderstorm chances will also continue for most of this week, with only a short window in the late week where we could be precipitation-free for a day. A few storms may be severe on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The first round will be along the international border around 5pm tomorrow. The second round will be north central Minnesota from the Brainerd lakes area to the Twin Ports around 10pm tomorrow evening. The biggest threats will be damaging winds and large hail. There is another chance of strong storms Thursday, but models are all over the place with timing and placement. We’ll keep you updated. Winds will be light, with gusts only up to 15 mph for most of the week as well.
he other annoyance will be the potential for more wildfire smoke to work its way back into the Northland through most of the week. By the middle of the week, it will become more noticeable. This time it won’t be coming in from Canada but from California as our upper-level flow is from west to east.
