Justin Liles: Wildfire smoke, warmer weather, and northern lights

Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the U.P. of Michigan might have the chance to see the northern lights Tuesday night and Wednesday night. However pesky wildfire smoke looks to block our chances of seeing them. The light show has the potential to reach the Minnesota-Iowa border. This means if you can get away from the city lights which includes Minneapolis, you may see the dazzling display.

On Wednesday, winds will be a touch breezy from the south in northwest Wisconsin with gusts around or just above 15 mph, but lighter elsewhere. By the afternoon we could be smelling the wildfire smoke as it mixes down to the surface. Heading into Thursday southeast winds take over gusting up to 15 to 20 mph and clears out an remaining smoke. Temperatures will still be near 80s with cooler conditions by the lake due to the lake breeze. Similar conditions are on Friday. There is still a chance of some rain Saturday.
