Justin Liles: Rain continues tonight

June 4th: Storms continue tonight

Storms continue tonight

Showers will likely continue tonight and run the risk of creating some minor flooding around the region. The flooding will likely occur in low lying areas like ditches, culverts, streams, and other low-lying areas. Sump pumps will be running nonstop and may create ponding in the yard.

This rain may lead to some thick fog around the shoreline of Lake Superior Wednesday morning once the front passes responsible for all the strong storms. Westerly winds will continue behind the front, and they will increase on Wednesday with gusts of 20 to 30 mph. More showers and a few thunderstorms will redevelop Wednesday, especially in the afternoon and over northern Minnesota.

There will be periodic showers Thursday through the weekend, with the greatest rain chances during the afternoon and evening hours. Westerly winds on Thursday will be stronger than Wednesday with gusts of 25 to 35 mph. The potential for more rain is possible through the weekend with enough daytime heating leading to afternoon and early evening showers. This will likely be the case this weekend.
