March 19th: Out like a lion

Out like a lion

A clipper system will bring accumulating light snow chances to portions of the Northland, with the highest accumulations south of US Highway 2 on Thursday through Thursday night where chances for greater than 2 inches of snow are 40 to 70 percent. This snow could lead to slick roadways during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

There is high confidence in a low coming from the Colorado Rockies that will take aim on the Northland late this weekend. The models are in great agreement as of now to produce some heavy snow across Minnesota. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE know that these number are not set in stone and could changes based on the storms track. It’s track beyond Sunday remains still in question and could have significant impacts depending on the line this storm takes. Winds will likely create blowing and drifting snow as well, making for poor travel. The worst will be Sunday night into Monday.
