Lea Zmurko: A breezy and cool Tuesday

July 23: A cool and cloudy forecast

A cooler day ahead in the Northland as temperatures stay in the upper 60s through the evening hours. Chances for spotted showers and thick clouds to be pushing across the region before clearing overnight.

There will be a few passing rounds of isolated and scattered showers through the early afternoon hours.  More thunderstorms will be trekking across west central Minnesota. The few pockets of fog should be diminishing just past sunrise, but it could linger in the early morning.

Temperatures for today will stay in the mid-60s as the breeze off Lake Superior will keep conditions coolest along the waterfront and the thick cloud coverage will moderate the temperatures. With 15 mph winds across the lake, there is an increased risk for rip currents at the beaches in the Twin Ports for today.

By tonight, conditions will dry out and clouds will part. The Northland will remain dry for Wednesday morning through the weekend as high pressure moves in from Ontario

Once the skies clear, the sunny dry days will persist for the rest of the week. Temperatures will jump back up to the mid-80s. Winds will shift to a southerly flow and continue to transport warmer air into the Northland.

We won’t see any rain showers until the end of the weekend with a slight chance for rumbles.
