Lea Zmurko: A brief stretch of sun
Winds have stayed strong for the start of the week, and they will finally start to diminish this evening. Temperatures will drop off tonight as skies stay clear, lows will be in the 20s and some frost is possible in the early morning.
Dry air will continue to stick around for tomorrow as temperatures bounce back from the low 40s and any accumulated mixed precipitation starts to melt away. Sunshine will be helpful as highs reach the 50s, but areas off Lake Superior can expect the lake breeze to continue to have a slight chill.

Widespread rain and a few rumbles of thunderstorms will expedite some clean up Thursday into Friday morning as a quick system comes across. The rainfall will range from .25 to .50 inches from northeast MN to northwest WI. Some pockets can expect nearly an inch of rain as thunderstorms may develop and provide some heavy downfall precipitation. Some small hail is not yet ruled out, but severe threats remain low. Some mixed precipitation is possible north of the Iron Range late overnight as cooler air moves in but snowfall amounts remain minimal.
There is still some uncertainty in how late into Friday morning the precipitation could linger at this moment, but the afternoon is looking dry as high pressure moves in.
