Lea Zmurko: A busy start to the workweek

December 16: A dreary Monday morning

Seeing some freezing rain in the morning and light snow by the afternoon. Temperatures will drop back into something seasonable by the middle of the week.

It is tough to see this morning as visibility remains reduced from Cloquet up to the higher terrain along the North Shore. This stretch of the Northland is under a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 AM today. As winds build in from the northwest the low-lying clouds will begin to lift out.

A clipper will cross eastward with a wintry mix for the start of the day, but transition over to snow mid afternoon and end overnight. As cold air moves in later today, the freezing drizzle and wintry mix will change over into light snow.

Accumulation will remain light as many will see less then an inch and at most two inches of light snow. More snow is likely to fall on Thursday with the passing of a strong clipper as cold air continues and temperatures fall into the mid-teens.
