Lea Zmurko: Dense fog and scattered showers

August 16: Wrapping up the week with more rain

Dense fog and scattered showers are expected across the Northland as temperatures will remain in the mid 60s to low 70s with overcast skies.

Waking up to low visibilities across the Northland this morning. Dense fog is stretching from the Twin Ports up the North Shore resulting in less than a mile of visibility. Other areas along the Iron Range and Central Minnesota into northwestern Wisconsin are also seeing the foggy conditions through the morning hours.

There will continue to be dense cloud coverage and overcast skies, so it will take longer for the fog to lift. Temperatures will remain in the upper sixties and low seventies this afternoon. Winds are persisting from the north with gusts of 15-20 mph across northern central Minnesota

Some more scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be moving through this afternoon with some areas expecting locally heavy rain. Most will see a quarter to a half of an inch of additional rain today, a few will see an additional inch of rain at most.

Saturday is now showing some lingering sprinkles and drizzles as the low-pressure system makes its departure. Conditions will be cleared by the afternoon and then stay dry for a good stretch with temperatures in the upper 70s with an abundance of sunshine.
