Lea Zmurko: Dry and cool today, but a potential for frost tonight.

October 3: Cool and cloudy before the frost

Its breezy and dry weather for another day. High pressure remains dominant, and clouds clear overnights as the cool air continues to move in.

Still facing near-critical fire weather conditions as the dry and windy weather persists for the next week.

Today will be cooler with temperatures in the low 60s with a breeze from the northwest encouraging cold air advection at the surface.

Clouds will pass through the afternoon and early evening but begin to clear tonight as winds diminish. There is a likely chance for widespread frost overnight as tonight’s lows fall into the upper 20s and low 30s.

We will see a rollercoaster of temperature in the upcoming week as we climb into the low 70s and then proceed to plummet back to seasonable sixties every so often. The variability in temperatures will be guided by the variability in wind directions.

Conditions are remaining dry and gusty in the Northland as we see a lack of rain for the upcoming week. A chance for some showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening but its track may shift just south of the Northland as dry air remains dominant today.
